Scholarships help to reach goals.

In August 2013 you can apply for the scholarship data network and a National Scholarship (Deutschlandstipendium) of the TU Dresden for the academic year 2013/14.

The TU Dresden expects of all applicants:

• outstanding academic performance and commitment,
• own ideas and initiative to create student and academic life of the TU Dresden,
• willingness to contribute to the network of scholarship holders of the TU Dresden and to contribute to events organised by the network, as well as
• openness and curiosity about meetings and exchange with people from other university departments, with alumni, with the scholarship sponsors of TU Dresden.

4 steps to applying

1. Please check if you are eligible for a Deutschlandstipendium of TU Dresden with the help of the Announcement and the TUD-Regulation for the awarding of scholarships .
2. Use the Online Application Form to apply (only in German). Here you can find the agreement of application and the participation form and all details for applying.
   Attention: Please do not forget to save your application and the mpuls-name, in order to be able to amend your application or add further attachments if you need to do so later. Please enclose all attachments that you also add to your postal application. Unfortunately the Online Application Form is online in German.
   
3. TU Dresden asks all applicants for a motivational letter (max. 1 page), which describes why you are particularly suitable for the Deutschlandstipendium. You may also apply for a subject-specific scholarship in your motivational letter if that is relevant to you. Subject-specific scholarships are sponsored by a certain company or organisation (see Distribution of subject-specific scholarships from last year). In order to consider applicants of all fields of study approximately one third of the scholarships are subject-specific.
4. Please send your completed written application additionally to: TU Dresden, Zentrum für Weiterbildung, Kennwort "Deutschlandstipendium", 01062 Dresden, Germany.

The application phase for the academic year 2013/14 will start on 29 July and finishes on 13 August 2013. Letters of acceptance or refusal are expected to be sent out in mid-October.

REQUIREMENTS FOR A SCHOLARSHIP

The principles for the selection criteria as well as for the application and selection process are regulated by the Regulation for implementation of the National Scholarship Act, www.deutschland-stipendium.de/_media/StipV.pdf . According to this the following requirements need to be met if you want to apply for a Deutschlandstipendium:

• The course studies need to be taken up at TU Dresden or already pursued at TU Dresden.
• Performance shown so far at school, at profession or during course studies have to imply that the applicant particularly deserves to be sponsored.

Apart from performance and the personal development social commitment, willingness to assume responsibility as well as particular social, family or personal circumstances arising from the family background or a migration background are considered.

Amount of the scholarship

A Deutschlandstipendium amounts to 300 Euro per month. It is paid monthly and awarded as non-repayable subsidy. The scholarship is not-income related and can be combined with payments through the federal student support BAföG. The sponsoring is usually available for one academic year and can be continued after review. The scholarship is equally co-funded by the government and private sponsoring of alumni, friends of the university, companies, foundations and other sponsors of TU Dresden.
