On December 24th, Christmas Eve ("Heiligabend") and
December 31st, New Year's Eve ("Silvester") shop's and
office's opening hours are usually until noon, a lot of
people do not work these days.
School holidays, which do not relate to semester breaks at the
university, can be found here. Please note that other German
federal states have other school holidays!
States with mostly catholic population such as Bavaria and
Baden Wuerttemberg have more and different public holidays.
