Around 80 % of all inhabitants do not belong to a religious community. The majority of the 20 % rest of the people are mebers of different Christian confessions. 15,4% of the general population are Protestants, 4,6 % are Roman Catholics and about 1000 are members of the Russian Orthodox church.

The Jewish community counts about 700 mebers, furthermore there is a small Orthodox Jewish community of 80 people.
