Before departure, don't forget the follwing steps:

• cancel your rental agreement
• cancel electricity, water, gas, TV, internet, phone, GEZ
• cancel insurances and all other contracts
• deregister your children at their day-care and school
• deregister your car
• apply for redirection of your mail at the post office
• employers: complete your tax return due on the 31^st of May for the previous calendar year
• close down your bank account
• join the alumni network of your university: TU Dresden Alumni 
  
• give notice of departure at the Resident’s Registration Office (“Bürgerbüro”)
