  • Takeover, assessment, development and evaluation of the archive-worthy written, digital and audio-visual traditions of all areas of the University of Technology of Dresden and her predecessor’s institutions
  • Verification and support for the administrative office of the university
  • Confirmation of final degrees, activity and study times for evaluation and social interests
  • Support of apprenticeship and historical research through consultancy as well as through preparation of archival sources for uses, carrying out of investigations 
  • Guidance of the graduate’s databases, the documentation of the professor’s as well as the databases of honorary Ph.D. candidates, and the development of the register of files
  • Expansion of the photographic archive to the centre of science in Dresden
  • Publication of sources publications and biographies, in particular for significant alumni of the institution
  • Takeover and scientifically development of written estates and personal documentations
  • Support of the public relations and marketing of the university
  • Training and further education

The archive of the university was founded in 1952 as an independent institution based on several registries of colleges. It includes a total stock of more than 4000 running meters of documents of the whole University of Technology and its predecessor’s institutions. Beside the traditional tradition a digital archive is built up.
