The Media Center (MC) is divided into five departments:

Audiovisual Media

The Audiovisual Media Department offers a wide range of services within the university. The focus lies on supporting the design, implementation and the use of audiovisual media in teaching and research. The spectrum ranges from the technical consultation concerning such media, providing the technology to support events, and up to the production of scientific videos in- and outside our professional studio.

Educational Research and Services

Specifically, we offer:

• Complete, competent operation of research and media development projects including application, execution and reporting;
• Counseling on planning and implementation of operational scenarios;
• Media-didactic counseling and technical assistance for content creation (multimedia-authoring);
• Design and implementation of measures for quality assurance and quality assessment;
• Participation in the research and teaching;
• Organization of continuous education lectures and scientific workshops.

Media Design

The Media Design Department offers both inside and outside the TU Dresden professional solutions on:

• Media Design for E-Learning;
• Audiovisual projects by using our Media Lab individually or in guided scenarios.

Media and Information Technology

The Media and Information Technology Department offers the following services for the faculties and facilities at the TU Dresden and TUD-external partners:

• Consulting and services on different IT-systems;
• Technical evaluation;
• Development and deployment of software and hardware solutions;
• User support / technical support for the web portal of TU Dresden (WebCMS) and the Research Information System of TU Dresden (FIS);
• Applied research in the areas of information systems usability, user interface development, communication infrastructures, middleware, clustering, collaborative authoring processes from a technical point of view;
• Interdisciplinary coordination of all mentioned topics with education researchers and media designers.

Media Strategies

The Media Strategies provides solutions for the interface between technology and organization (the learning enterprise, etc.) and is specifically engaged with the development of learning processes in organizational formations of all economic sectors. On the basis of lifelong formal and informal learning activities, we consider the change that is caused by the use of e-learning in the context of education and training. Such change requires understanding before moving ahead with the well organized and planned execution.

Stepwise we:

• Develop a strategy with the client, taking into account its "corporate culture";
• Prepare a cost and financing plan;
• Develop a plan for implementing e-learning in the educational institution from an organizational perspective;
• Monitor and evaluate the development and deployment of all addressed processes.
