1981 doctoral degree at the Institute for Microbiology and Genetics, University Munich
1987 postdoctoral degree in Genetics
1987-1994 professor of Molecular Biology and General Pathology, University Ulm
since October 1994 professor of General Genetics and director of the Institute for Genetics, TU Dresden
May 2000 - May 2003 vice dean of the subject area Biology
May 2003 - May 2006 member of the University Senate of TU Dresden
since February 2001 member of the International Max Planck Research School for Molecular Cell Biology and Bioengineering (IMPRS-MCBB)
since November 2006 spokesman of Dresden International Graduate School for Biomedicine and Bioengineering (DIGS-BB)
since 19 August 2010 vice-rector for science and research of TU Dresden
