Structure of the Institute

Philosophy in Dresden has an analytical focus. Four Chairs collectively cover the full scope of the discipline:

• Chair of Theoretical Philosophy – epistemology, philosophy of language, and metaphysics
• Chair of Practical Philosophy – ethics, political philosophy, and social philosophy
• Chair of Philosophy Education and Ethics – philosophical education and the training of future teachers of ethics and philosophy
• Junior Professorship of Philosophy of Science – philosophy of science, philosophy of physics, and the relationship between science and society
