Chair of Environmental Management and AccountingWelcome on the homepage of the Chair of Environmental Management and AccountingIncreasingly scarce ecological resources make environmental concerns increasingly relevant in decision-making. In 1996, the chair of Business Administration established its Environmental Management specialty to integrate environmental developments into teaching and research at the TU Dresden. What we have accomplished so farArticle "Carbon Accounting: a systematic literature review." published in the Journal of Cleaner ProductionThe term "Carbon Accounting" is an often used term in the
research area "Climate change mitigation", but the
understanding differs between scientific areas and in practice.
Thus, the article focus on the questions “How is the term
carbon accounting defined?” or “What is the understanding of
carbon accounting?”. Based on a systematic literature review, a
definition of carbon accounting is proposed that can be used by
academics to operationalize their research questions, by
legislators to delimit obligatory and voluntary accounting and
by practitioners to establish carbon accounting in
companies. They derive a decision vector consisting of four dimensions: 1. life cycle assessment results (energy use, CO2-equivalents, water and waste), 2. eco-labels, 3. environmental management system of the supplier and 4. country of origin. http://www.springerlink.com/content/d5r06836g86q7763/fulltext.pdf Meeting of the Environmental and Sustainability Management Accounting NetworkIn order to support companies in better understanding both the environmental and financial consequences of their material and energy use the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has developed a standard on Material Flow Cost Accounting, that was released in September 2011.
