Focus on Teaching and Research


The Chair of Spatial Development is engaged in teaching and research with the following main topics:

  • Enhancement of innovative tools and methods of spatial development
  • Problems of urban regions and questions of cooperation between cities and their surroundings
  • Sustainable regional development and its operationalisation
  • Challenges of demographic change
  • Revitalization of cities and regions
  • International comparisons of spatial development and planning
  • Urban Resilience


Cooperation


The Chair of spatial development is a member of the Dresden Centre for Spatial Development Research at TU Dresden. In research and teaching it cooperates closely with the Leibniz-Institute of Ecological and Regional Development (IOER), Dresden. The head of the chair, Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. Bernhard Müller, is also the director of IOER.

The Chair maintains contacts to experts in many countries. Of special importance are the cooperation with the City and Regional Planning Programme at the Ohio State University, Columbus (USA) and the integration in several Chilean-German research projects.
